PROJECT BRIEF

WHAT IS IT?
The Lettering Style Challenge is an annual challenge in October hosted by Aurélie Maron, where artists and designers create one hand-lettering piece each day using a shared prompt list. Over the course of 31 days, this challenge encourages consistency, experimentation, and exploration rather than focusing on perfection. Each prompt acts as a starting point instead of a strict rule, allowing participants to interpret the prompt and work in any style/medium. The point is to show up, try new ideas, step outside of your comfort zone and practice every day for a month.
MY THEME FOR 2025
For 2025, I chose to focus on TV shows, since one of my favourite pastimes is rewatching my favourite series, plus there's just a certain feeling you get when watching a show for the first time that's hard to replicate. I wanted to translate that sense of nostalgia, excitement and comfort into hand-lettering, through typography, colour and composition. While not every piece is a fan favourite, participating in this challenge for my third year, continues to push me to discover new styles and combinations I wouldn't have normally tried, which helps me grow as a graphic designer.
