Playing Cards

The goal for this project was to reinvent a deck of playing cards… this meant no more Ace, King, Queen and Jack. We had to come up with our own playing card game by combining two elements in order to make the suits and the face cards. I chose flowers for the suits and architectural buildings for the face cards. The overall idea of face card hierarchy remains the same, but the names of the cards and how they look is completely different.

An ACE card is now a REALM card… the idea being that it has the highest value/lowest value because it contains the castle, apartment and house all in one card. A KING card is now rebranded as a CASTLE card, since they're often recognized as the wealthiest buildings. A QUEEN is now an APARTMENT card - a "middle of the road" building. The JACK card has been rebranded as a HOUSE. The number cards are the same as usual. Joker cards have been redesigned as BOUQUET cards. For this assignment, we only needed to create the following cards, which is why the set is not complete: Joker x2, Backside of Cards and Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 for all 4 suits.
