PROJECT OVERVIEW
This passion project was born from the idea that because we trust the chip brands on the shelf we purchase them, but there is a pattern in that the packaging itself is not always very fun. The goal with this project was to design a chip packaging design for a fictional company that targets young people and makes them want to buy this product.
SKETCHES
The first thing I had to do was create the branding for the chip package design. I made a list of elements I would need for this design including a logo and a mascot. I wanted this design to feel unique and fun, which led me to decide to make the HappyJoy logo with hand-drawn custom typography.
After my initial sketches for the brand, I started to think about how those elements could be laid out on the package, considering both front and back options.
THE MAIN PROCESS
Sketching designs for a visual identity is one thing, but actually creating it digitally is another. When it came time to bring my ideas into the digital world of Illustrator, I knew I needed to create a mood board.
FINAL DESIGNS
Part of my design process included playing around with composition, colour, flavours and even textures like grain.
